Located at 17 Galerie Véro-Dodat, an early 19th Century glass-and-steel arcade in the 1st arrondissement of Paris, the shop has a 50 year history in the market of high-end guitar trade and restauration. Galerie Casanova specializes in the retail, restauration, appraisal and repair of fine and rare guitars built between the 19th to the mid-20th century, European and American instruments alike. It is most notably the Parisian epicenter and one of the most renowned locations worldwide for the sale of gypsy-jazz guitars, and specifically Selmer-Maccaferri guitars of which we have sold or restored many examples over the years.

As luthiers, we see to the thorough inspection, appraisal, restoration and set up every instrument that comes through our shop in order to guarantee our customers not only the authenticity of the rare find they make, but also that their instrument will be perfectly playable.

Jérôme Casanova, owner of Galerie Casanova, has been working as a luthier for the past 30 years. Trained in the field of classical guitar making, he has built and restored many of these instruments during the course of his career and is the co-author of the book "1750-1950, The Spanish Guitar". He also works as an expert for several big names among auction houses and public institutions, such as Vichy Enchères, Drouot Enchères and the Crédit Municipal de Paris, and as such benefits from a vast experience working with all kinds of stringed instruments, from baroque and romantic-era guitars to electric guitars of the past century.

We are also interested in the purchase of any vintage and rare guitars you might have in your possession - from any big makers such as Fender, Gibson, Martin, etc - as well as vintage amplifiers or studio equipment. Galerie Casanova provides a top class international shipping service, with professional-grade packing and insurance to ensure transactions go smoothly no matter where a guitar is being sent to on the planet. If you are around Paris, don't hesitate to call or email us and book an appointment to visit our shop so you can browse the moment's selection of rare guitars. À bientôt!
