This is a very rare and hard to find Yamaha VX-1 from 1985. These were in production for only one year and were made in Japan exclusively for the Japanese market. This guitar plays and sounds great!
This guitar does show some cosmetic wear from over the years that include various surface scratches, scuffs, and dents throughout the body along with additional dings on the headstock. Both of the points on the lower body are chipped with a little bit of discoloration in the finish from over time. The Yamaha logo on the headstock as well as the serial number on the back have faded from over time as well. The hardware and pickups also show tarnish and oxidation. The back spring cover is chipped in the lower left corner and has yellowed from over time and one of the spring holes on the back of the bridge has chipped. Someone had drilled new holes for the retainer bar and made it so that it is now at an angle. The previous holes are still visible with what looks to be pieces of the original screw imbedded. The frets are used but still play great and the electronics work as they should.
The retainer bar was moved by a previous owner, and its screws have been replaced, and the tremolo arm and tremolo block are also replaced. This guitar otherwise appears to be original.
