Bay Area Vintage Guitars is happy to offer this affordable, cool, vintage 1950s Teisco EP-11 Vintage Archtop Guitar in Sunburst finish. (Made in Japan)
This is one of the earliest electric guitars produced in Japan, built at the legendary Maruha Gakki factory in the mid to late 50's (not possible to put an exact date from that era).
If you've seen these before (they are pretty rare), you would notice little variations on the same design. This is most likely due to the limited materials at the time, so they used what they had at the time of manufacture. The EP-11 was produced alongside a whole range of Archtops with slightly different specs. Some had 2 pickups, some had different hardware, and some had different F holes, but they were all very similar.
The neck is very large, and by that, we mean massive! (See specs below.) However, it plays very nicely with very light wear on the original fets and neck. It plays like a jazz guitar should and offers some nice tones acoustically and through a vintage amp.
The pickup, pots, and wiring appear all original and function great.
There is a crack on the top near the base of the front that doesn't affect playability or tone. There are nicks and dings throughout, and a nice patina and finish checking.

The setup on any guitar is subjective & a matter of a player's taste, which varies for every player. While each instrument we sell is set up as playable, that set-up may not be precise to your particular taste right out of the box. As with any stringed instrument) you should expect to possibly make adjustments to the action, string gauges, etc., to suit your exact tastes.
