1984 Steinberger XL-2

Made after the early models with kevlar in the composite and the front-attached faceplate, but long before Gibson’s acquisition of the company. Well-used but in great condition overall, missing the plug-in leg rest but has its factory gig bag, strap mount, and strap. So, the specs: 4-string electric bass with full 34” scale length, small rectilinear carbon fiber/graphite composite body, carbon fiber/graphite composite neck and fingerboard with dot inlays, no headstock, bold outlined Steinberger logo on face, excellently-machined bridge and saddles with very precise tuners the rear of body, two active EMG pickups, controls like a Jazz Bass - individual volume for each pickup with master tone, but other than the scale length, excellent tone, playability, and quality, and course innovative design, there ends the similarity to a Fender. Deep, piano-like clarity, wide tonal variation from the electronics, and futuristic looks. Made in Newburgh, New York, USA.
