Limited to 400 pieces worldwide, this special edition features both traditional design features and new appointments, making it an essential piece for series musicians and collectors alike. It's decorated in a gorgeous Sub Zero high-gloss nitro finish, with a 40th Custom-adorned truss rod cover and a set of old-school birds with outlines for inlays.

Built on the tried-and-true foundation of a mahogany back and neck with an artist grade maple top, the 40th Anniversary Custom 24 boasts a retro violin top carve and a PRS Pre-Factory headstock eagle — both of which pay homage to early PRS guitars. It has a Pattern Thin one-piece mahogany neck, offering superb comfort, with a unique ziricote fingerboard on top.

Outside of these aesthetic tributes, the 40th Anniversary Custom 24 is looking ahead with its all-new PRS DMO Treble and Bass pickups. The DMO's (standing for Dynamic, Musical, Open) were spec'd by Paul Reed Smith himself to have a wide open sound with vocal character. Other classic appointments include the PRS Gen III patented tremolo, Phase III locking tuners with wing buttons, and a ziricote headstock veneer.
