Description

A fine example of the quintessential Martin power box, their best known model. The fifties dreadnaughts are known for their precise note and projection with much clarity and power, whereas earlier scalloped braced dreadnaughts are deeper toned, with a fuller bottom and fatter trebles with less projection. This one has what is being called the "mystery top"; Martin switched to Sitka spruce around 1946, and there are a few brief periods when a different, whiter spruce was used. We don't know the species, possibly engelmann, European or Adirondack, all whiter in color and very different sound than the Sitka, and generally making a better sounding instrument.

Our "Cash price" policy: unfortunately, the credit card companies support "swiped" charges in which the card is physically run through the card reader. Phone-in charges are charged at a much higher rate (to the seller) which can take quite a big chunk out of a high-dollar sale. Thus, for those call-in sales, let's discuss the issue at the time; hopefully, we can figure some way to deal with it.
