Description

Small bodied, 12-fret instruments are all the rage these days as playing comfort becomes a high priority for an aging player population. Offered here is a fantastic example of such a guitar, a Martin Custom Shop 00-45, number 1667743, which was built in 2013 and remains in virtually unplayed condition.

This beauty utilizes full hide glue construction. It has an Adirondack Spruce top matched up with 1/4" scalloped Adirondack Spruce Golden Era bracing. The back and sides are made from a gorgeous set of premium grade Madagascar Rosewood. The body binding, neck and headstock are bound in white Boltaron. As one of Martin's top of the line guitars, the guitar's body is fully trimmed with Style 45 abalone pearl on the top and back. It has a 12-fret neck made from flamed Spanish Cedar with Martin's Performing Artist neck shape. The Black Ebony fretboard has a 16" radius, paua snowflake inlays and a 1-3/4" bone nut. It has an Ebony belly bridge with 2-3/16" spacing and a compensated bone saddle. The bound headstock has a Madagascar Rosewood overlay and gold Waverly tuners with ebony buttons. It has a fully adjustable truss rod and weighs just 3.8 pounds. The guitar is fully finished in clear gloss and is drop-dead gorgeous! A photo of the full spec sheet is included.

This guitar's beauty is not just skin deep, however. It plays with superb ease and is setup with 12th fret string heights of 6/64" on the low E side and 4/64" on the high E side. As the provided sound sample demonstrates, the tone is vintage Martin; warm, woody and clear. Even though the guitar has yet to be broken in, the tone is rich with lots of note to note clarity and midrange punch. While meant for fingerstyle, you can really dig-in with a flat pick if you like. Either way, the output of this little beauty will amaze you.

This guitar has seen little if any play and remains in near mint condition with no flaws of any significance. As shown in the photos, the frets show no observable wear. It comes with it's similarly mint Martin Custom Shop case with the protective shroud and the uninstalled end pin.

To commission a guitar with these specs would cost you over $15K and a long wait these days. Get this near mint 2013 example for thousands less. Make this incredible Martin yours today. You will be very glad you did!
