This Marshall 4140 Club and Country amp has seen some use but is fully functional, having passed through our system.

We gave a full internal inspection, pot and tube socket cleaning, testing of all tubes. We also played through it extensively and found that it is a great sounding, flexible amp, with loads of clean headroom, warm tone and available overdrive that is pure Marshall.

Original transformers and speakers are in place.

Introduced during an era dominated by loud rock amplifiers, the Model 4140 stood out by offering a refined tonal character. With 100 watts of power, two 12-inch Celestion G12H speakers, and a robust EL34 tube-driven design, it delivered crystal-clear cleans and subtle break-up at higher volumes, making it a favorite for players who valued tonal clarity and articulation. Its built-in reverb and tremolo circuits added depth and versatility, while its midrange focus ensured that it could cut through a mix without sounding harsh or brittle.

From a historical perspective, the Club and Country marked a significant departure from Marshall’s usual high-gain reputation. It was a clear nod to the growing influence of American music genres, and its sound was tailored to players seeking warm cleans over aggressive distortion. Despite its limited production run, the amp became a cult favorite for its unique approach, blending British engineering with tonal qualities that could easily find a home in a Nashville studio or on a blues club stage.

The Model 4140’s aesthetic also set it apart, featuring a two-tone vinyl covering and a polished metal control panel that exuded vintage sophistication. Its robust construction and high-quality components were a testament to Marshall’s commitment to excellence, ensuring it could withstand the rigors of touring and studio work alike.

We will ship this amp in several boxes in order to get it to you safely. The chassis and speakers will be shipped separate from the cabinet. The transformers and speakers are too heavy to ship inside the cabinet - shipping carriers are hard on big amps and we want to get it to you intact. Assembly will be required on delivery. Shipping will be expensive.
