Kitty Hawk amps fall into two categories - Mesa Boogie-esque builds like this one, and Dumble-esque models.
The amp runs well and does a great job producing the tones of the Boogie Mark I.  Like a Boogie, the amp is built out on a circuit board, though I'd argue that this design is lair out a little better - it is more accessible for future service.  They way they tucked the reverb into the chassis is interesting!

The amp appears to be all original.

Kitty Hawk amplifiers emerged in the late 1970s in Germany, initially gaining recognition for their association with Dumble Amplifiers. As the German importer for Dumble, Kitty Hawk received amp chassis from the U.S., which were then assembled and completed in Germany. This collaboration was short-lived, as Dumble ceased supplying chassis upon discovering that Kitty Hawk was replicating their designs.

Following the end of their partnership with Dumble, Kitty Hawk began producing their own amplifiers, heavily inspired by Dumble's Overdrive Special and Mesa/Boogie models. Their initial offering, known simply as the "Kitty Hawk Amp," was a direct copy of the Dumble Overdrive Special, featuring a single master volume control and two preamp volume (overdrive) controls. Subsequent models, such as the "Standard" and the "Custom Series," continued this trend, incorporating design elements from both Dumble and Mesa/Boogie amplifiers.

Kitty Hawk's amplifiers were noted for their high-quality components, often sourced from the U.S., and were available in both combo and head-unit versions. Despite their innovative designs and quality construction, Kitty Hawk amps developed a reputation for unreliability, particularly in the U.S. market, where support and service were lacking. This led to a decline in sales and the eventual discontinuation of the brand.

We will ship this amp in two boxes - one for the chassis and one for the cabinet.  Amps with heavy transformers can have issues if they are manhandled in shipping, despite our best attempts to cushion them.  If dropped in transit, the weight of the transformers can distort the chassis, or the weight of the chassis could compromise the cab.  Some assembly will be required on arrival.  It is not complicated.

Shipping policy:
When you purchase this item you are hereby agreeing to this shipping policy. We remove tubes from amps that could be damaged in shipping.  We remove the chassis from some amps so that the large transformers don't damage a chassis or cabinet.  We remove heavy speakers from some amps so they don't damage baffles.  These cases result in multiple box shipments, and they require the buyer to do some assembly on delivery.  We do this because we have experienced shipping issues in the past, and this is our prevention measure.  Shipments will require signature on delivery, no exceptions.  If there is damage, the buyer must retain all packing materials intact and picture them immediately and send them to sales@maharsvintageguitars.com.  Less than 1% of our shipments are damaged in transit, and we are committed to making sure your item arrives safely, but we are taking these additional measures to make sure you are happy with your purchase.
