太く艷やかなサウンドが魅力の1967年製Gibson SG Special
1961年にそれまでのシングルカッタウェイのレスポールモデルから仕様変更となり、深く角の尖ったダブルカッタウェイと薄いマホガニーのワンピースボディとなったレスポールモデル、その後1963年頃ギブソンはレス・ポール氏との契約解除等から、ダブルカッタウェイのモデルを名前自体SG(ソリッド・ギターの略)と変更します。
その後シングルカッタウェイのレスポールは復活を果たしますが、SGは残り続け現在でも発売され続けるロングセラーのギターです。
愛用者にはピート・タウンゼント、アンガス・ヤング、トニー・アイオミ、ジョージ・ハリスン、エリック・クラプトン等、数々のミュージシャンを虜にしてきたギブソンが生み出した傑作の一つです。
この1967年製のSG Specialは1966年頃から仕様変更されたラージピックガードやスモールヘッド、ギブソンオリジナルのシングルピックアップP-90搭載等の特徴。ヴィンテージP-90の奏でるシングルサウンドは、通常のシングルよりも太く艷やかで押し出しの強さが特徴。細身で演奏し易いネックや、実戦で演奏される事で鳴りが格段に増したボディ等、芳醇なヴィンテージSGサウンドを奏でるギター。
「やっぱりシングルコイルの方が好きだわ」と音の好みがある方、フェンダー系のシングルコイルとは違う、ギブソン社が培ったシングルサウンドを十二分に体感できるギターです。
