1935 Gibson Roy Smeck Stage De Luxe in good condition. This Smeck was converted from Hawaiian to Spanish style at some point in the past before to reaching our shop. The neck width was slimmed to 1 ¾”, neck profile carved to a comfortable “D” shape, vintage style fretwire was installed, a new nut and saddle were installed, and the screwholes were plugged on the top of the original bridge. The guitar has some professionally repaired cracks, one at the centerseam on top, and a few smaller ones on either side of the lower bout. This Gibson was constructed with a spruce top, mahogany back and sides, a mahogany neck with a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, and a Brazilian rosewood bridge. The neck has a width of 1 3/4" at the nut, a depth of 0.98” at the first fret, and a depth of 1.07” at the ninth fret. The guitar has a 24 3/4” scale length and weighs 3.86 lbs. This Smeck has a woody, well balanced sound, responsive to a lighter touch but with plenty of headroom to deliver a big, powerful sound when hit harder with a flatpick. Comes with a non-original hardshell case.
