Description

This is a Mint 2014 Left Handed Gibson Byrdland. It is part of the rare Crimson Series, which was one step above the Custom Shop (see pic of the Crimson-colored COA explaining the Crimson craftmanship).
Gibson is not currently making any jazz boxes, hasn't for a while, and has no plans to build any in the foreseeable future. This is a very rare lefty, and they don't come up for sale very often!

The Byrdland is basically a thinner version of the L-5 with a shorter scale neck. The L-5 has a 3 3/8 body depth compared with the Byrdland's 2 1/4. It was the first Gibson guitar in the thinline series, predating the ES-335 by 3 years in 1955. It was a collaboration of 50s guitarists Billy Byrd and Hank Garland, and featured a 23 1/2 scale length which allows for reaching upper extension jazz chords. The shorter scale length is also a comfortable feel if you don't have large hands.

The guitar is absolutely stunning, looks brand new and unplayed. It has beautifully figured back sides and neck, Gold hardware including the special Byrdland 3-loop tailpiece and tune-0-matic (ABR-1) bridge, Ebony fretboard and bridge base, tortoise shell pickguard, round Venetian cutaway (from 1955-1960 on the originals), and bonnet knobs (through 1960). So this guitar could be considered a 1959 reissue.

This is one of the nicest modern era Gibson guitars I've seen in over 40 years. It's like this guitar was in the backroom of a shop and never sold, it's that clean. Absolutely beautiful guitar in every way and an exquisite example for those asking for a Gibson jazz box - they don't get any nicer than this one.

I've had many requests for a Gibson jazz box, and to find one available for sale, especially in this condition, is almost a miracle!
