Description

This is a very beautiful larger bodied 17″ model L-5 from 1947. Its got all of Gibson’s earliest features which made this the choice for any Jazz guitarist looking for its perfect acoustic tone qualities. Its a completely original example from its original family here in Florida. Its wonderfully faded Dark Sunburst finished top is over a perfectly carved spruce top w/an Ice Tea’burst overall appearance. This L-5 was certainly played for many years by its 1st & only owner yet still has a beautiful elegent look to it. Its fairly fat 2 piece maple neck has some insane flames showing w/a cool black stinger. Its maple back & sides are some of the finest figured wood Gibson had during the 40’s. Its Ebony fingerboard has Gibson’s pearl block inlays. Its Kluson Deluxe Sealfast tuners still wear their original plastic buttons & work well. Its gold plated tailpiece is worn a bit. This L-5 also has their cool & final “Script” logo inlaid on its headstock. Its pickgard has slight crystalizing going on but we will save it. Lastly its got a very early white oval label still intact w/an A559 serial # from 1947 ! No cracks anywhere which is oh-so rare. Its tone quality is as good as it gets from this Jazzer & certainly worth the price of admission. Its excellent overall & comes its original brown gator hard case.
