Description

Sunburst, in excellent condition. A nice all solid wood archtop with nice wood grain. The L-4 had been around since 1912 first as a round hole then with F Holes in the mid 30’s. The L-4 Cutaway came about after World War II as the economy boomed and more players wanted a cutaway and could afford it. “Your first serious carved top” was an old ad. One step below the L-7 yet very much a pro level guitar with pointed cutaway, double parallelogram inlays, choice big leaf maple back and sides and a solid spruce top. These were discontinued in 1971 after only 23 years of production, so not many made.

This one has great wood and great tone. Also has an added Kent Armstrong pickup with replaced pickguard with volume and tone controls. The pickup floats over the top. Has the original nickel tailpiece with three parallelograms just like the ES175. Also has a bound Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard and original wood bridge. Shows nice grain on the back and has replaced Kluson style tuners.

“Boy I wish I would have bought those vintage guitars when they were cheap.” This can not be replaced new for this price. Comes with the original yellow lined 60’s black case with added latches.
