Description

Bay Area Vintage Guitars is proud to offer this beautiful and rare 1960 Gibson ES-355 TDSV Stereo semi-hollow body guitar.

The 355 was the top-of-the-line 300-series Gibson. Although it featured the same basic construction of the Gibson ES-335TD and Gibson ES-345TD, it was fitted with a vibrato, stereo circuitry and beautifully appointed with gold-plating throughout, block position marker inlays, and the famous split diamond headstock inlay. Only 189 1960 models were manufactured and shipped, making this a very exclusive guitar and one of only a few remaining examples of this wonderful guitar.

The Gibson ES-355TD SV is a variation on the Gibson ES355 or ES-355TD guitar (ES standing for Electric Spanish and TD Thinline Double cutaway) with the addition of Stereo output and six-position Varitone (SV).

This beauty is all original with a patina that still has some highly polished gold plating on the Bigsby factory tremolo. It features Grover roto-matic tuners, and the finish still has a bright cherry, high gloss finish with beautiful and natural checking with the usual dings and light scratches from being played and enjoyed for 64 years.

The pickguard has some typical warping but with no oxidation or acetate degradation. The pictures show very clean PAFs with PAF stickers present and intact. Electronics are original and untouched.

The original hard shell case with pink lining is included. While this guitar was not a case queen, you can see the case bore the brunt of the travel use and has a replacement handle for secure travel.

Please look at all photos closely, as they are part of the description and are of the actual item you will receive. Please reach out with any questions.
