The ‘1957 Les Paul Custom Light Aged’ model has been aged by the Murphy Lab, a team specialising in ageing led by Tom Murphy, a founding member of the Gibson Custom Shop and a leading ageing expert.
The Light Aged finish is the second lightest of the four ageing levels in the Murphy Lab Collection and is relatively light, reproducing the fine weather checks and dents on the edge.
It reissued the 1957 specs with a 3-mic and amp; all-mahogany body.
It has diamond head inlays/gold hardware/block position marks and a waffle back with plastic buttons on the tuners.
The neck is a Chunky C shape, slightly narrower than earlier '57 models, and the pickups are two un-potted custom buckers.
Scratches, small dents and other damage, which are unlikely to be due to the age of the paintwork, can be seen mainly on the back of the body.
The frets have been rubbed together and have no dents, with about 70-80% remaining, and the neck and truss rod are in good condition.
