1971 Gibson Citation No.11 in excellent condition. This exceptionally rare Gibson, number 11 of 15 made in the original series, is all original and has no history of repairs. This Citation has a varnish finish and was constructed with a carved spruce top, figured maple back and sides, a five piece figured maple and mahogany neck with an ebony fingerboard featuring ornate pearl cloud style inlays, an ebony bridge, and a bound figured maple pickguard. Both the front and back of the headstock are bound and feature ebony veneers with striking abalone fleur-de-lis inlays, an ornamental feature repeated throughout the guitar, with the front having an abalone 1930’s style “The Gibson” logo and the back featuring a pearl plaque inscribed with the guitars build date and number. The guitar features gold hardware, with an ornate art deco style tailpiece, and a floating BJB pickup with adjustable pole pieces  The neck has a width of 1 11/16" at the nut, a depth of 0.85” at the first fret, and a depth of 1.00” at the tenth fret. The guitar has a 25.5” scale and weighs 6.26 lbs. The Citation is the most collectible postwar Gibson archtop, made to compete with D’Aquisto, and the pinnacle of Gibson guitars from this era, exquisitely crafted with many features unique to this model. Comes with the original hardshell case.
