These were recreated in 1994 to celebrate Gibson's 100th anniversary when they re-issued 12 unique guitars each month of the year.
Produced in Gibson's Bozeman Montana factory, this Guitar was initially built to celebrate Chicago's 100th birthday. The original Gibson L-Century of Progress model, featuring a white pearloid fretboard and headstock overlays, was displayed in Gibson's exhibit at the 1933 Chicago World's Fair to commemorate 'A Century of Progress'. It was a unique-looking instrument at the time, but it was also a short-lived model—the last of the original models were shipped in 1941.

The 1994 L-Century is a painstaking recreation of the 1930s originals. It boasts the same pearloid fingerboard and headstock, sunburst lacquer finish, figured maple back and sides, and vintage-style Waverly tuners. Its three-piece neck features a mid-1930s v-shaped, rounded profile. The Bozeman, Montana, factory craftsman meticulously recreated every detail, ensuring the highest quality and staying true to the original design.

Rosewood and pearl inlays, pearl truss rod cover, bone nut and saddle, limited edition label inside the soundhole, and 'Centennial Special' sterling silver plaque on the back of the headstock. Sitka spruce top, Solid maple back and sides.

It weighs in at an even 4 lbs (1.81 kg), the nut measures 1.75" (44.5mm).
