スロテッドヘッド仕様のEB-3！
Gibsonの伝統的なSGシェイプのダブルカッタウェイボディに、ショートスケールが特徴的なEB-3。
1961年の登場から1979年の生産終了まで幾度かの仕様変更が行われています。
本機はマホガニーボディ、マホガニーネック、スロテッドヘッドの仕様。
このクラシックギターのような形状をしたスロテッドヘッドは、1969年からのごく短い期間だけ製造された仕様です。
PUはネックエンドに近い時期のもので、Gibsonベースらしいブーミーな低音を出力してくれます。
本来4ポジションのロータリーセレクターですが、本機は5ポジションに変更されています。
1.フロントPU/2.フロントPUブーミー・トーン/3.ミックスブーミー・トーン/4.リアPU/5.ミックスとなっています。
Fenderのベースがエレキギターのサウンドキャラクターに近いとするならば、Gibson(特にEBシリーズ)はよりアップライトベースに近いトーンが特徴的です。
エレキベースの分野ではFenderが主流といっても過言ではありませんが、Gibsonの独特なトーンには根強いファンも数多くいます。
