This sweet baby is so gorgeous, so clean and just sounds amazing.. It even has what are likely the original 6L6 power tubes.

From 1959 to 1963, a new style of amp was produced by Fender. These amps were completely redesigned with an angled, forward facing, brown control panel and round brown knobs. The tweed covering was replaced with a brown fabric-backed vinyl material called Tolex. This brown Tolex was reserved for the smaller Fender amps such as the Deluxe, Princeton, and Super (the larger amps used white Tolex, see below). Most of these amps still used the leather handle of the tweed amps, but the Super later converted to a brown "dog bone" plastic handle. Early brown Tolex amps had a pinkish hue, while the later browns had a rich brown color. Grill cloth on the earlier brown amps used "ox blood" (maroon) colored plastic speaker grill cloth. Later models used "wheat" or golden colored grill cloth. The control panel is brown colored, but later changed to black.

This string of changes makes each iteration of Fender amps from 1960 through 1964 a limited run of sorts.

The Vibrolux sits between the Deluxe and the Super in terms of output power. It is an idyllic package in many ways. It sports a 12" speaker and a reasonable size and weight.

The amp very much original, though the power transformer is from 1971. Changed power transformers do affect the calue of vintage amps but they do not affect the tone, unless they are incorrectly specified of course. Filter caps were checked prior to arrival here and the one that was suspect was replaced. We would recommend a visit to a tech if the plan is to use this amp regularly, as it should be. As it sits, we recommend consistent use to keep caps stable.

Everything is functioning well and the amp sounds spectacular. It runs quietly as well.

Cosmetically, it is a stunning piece with all original tolex, grille cloth, handle etc.

A perfect addition to a classic amp collection.
