Description

Refinished in faded Dakota Red. These were the first “reissues” Fender ever did with the slab body and and the Tele-style single-coil like the very first Precision Bass of 1951. Only the 1968 model had the lacquer finish, after that came the polyurethane finish called “tough coat”. This has original lacquer on the the neck and the original decal, but has one replaced tuner. The original body is a lacquer resin done long ago and now after 20-plus years it has some sinking. The original pickup was rewound long ago (1995, invoice in case) when Formvar wire was widely available. Big neck but not uncomfortable. Frets in great shape. Original bridge and saddles. Fender Custom Shop repro bridge and pickup covers. See photos of original electronics and knobs. Nothing sounds like these early Tele basses. Thump yet crisp percussion to the notes and resonant with sustain. Sold to previous owner by Willie’s in 1992 with original invoice (it was stripped at the time and the customer had it refinished shortly after.) Weight is 10.25 pounds, comes with reissue tweed case.
