Description

We already have several vintage Fender Telecasters in our inventory, but offered here is yet another, in this case a 52 year-old model built in 1971, serial number 309146. This wonderful Tele is all original and in fabulous cosmetic condition.

This guitar's specs include an alder body, a maple neck with walnut 'skunk stripe' and a yellowed 'Olympic White' finish. It has a June 71 neck date and the neck carve is a lovely medium-large 'C' shape with depth measurements of .890" at the first fret tapering up to .960" at the twelfth fret. The pickups, wiring, solder joints and electronics are all original to the instrument. The pots date to September, 1966. it weighs in at a very svelt 7.0 pounds!

This guitar's light weight and nice big neck are a terrific combination for any guitar, let alone a super clean vintage Telecaster like this one. The condition is incredible. Please check out the close ups of the few flaws that are evident. It has seen relatively little play over the past half century and has obviously spent most of its time in the case. The original frets remain in very playable condition with approximately 50% of their useable life remaining.

Condition is important obviously, but this guitar plays and sounds great too. The neck is straight and the truss rod works smoothly. It is setup with Elixir .10's to play low and buzz free. The tone is what you pay for and this old beauty has it in spades with lots of Tele twang from its moderate output pickups. Please check out the brief sound sample I have included below. Nothing sounds like a Tele!

This lovely old Fender case this guitar comes in appears to be older than the guitar itself as indicated by its 'no tail' amp logo but it is in great condition and fits the guitar very well. The guitar also comes with what is purported to be the original 'ash tray' bridge cover.

As noted, we have several vintage Telecasters in our inventory right now for you to choose from. Any of which would thrill any player or collector. There are few electric guitars more elemental to the sounds of the music we all love than a Fender Telecaster, particularly an old, well-preserved example like this one. A collectible classic indeed!
