1954 Fender Stratocaster Sunburst, Hardtail

A gorgeous and rich sounding example of the iconic first year of the 1954 Stratocaster. This guitar will grab you and take you away to sonic paradise. It just feels and sounds right in so many ways. Acoustically played it is very resonate and sweet sounding. Plugged in it swaggers with a soulful charm and sparkle. The bass is round and sweet natured, the mids are perfectly balanced providing the right punch and the highs drip in a glassy shimmer. The sunburst finish is in good condition showing a few spots of bumps and marring through its time. The bass horn has a u shaped gash and the signs of a strap button once placed on the backside of the same horn. There are also two tiny holes mysteriously drilled into the top of the body near the bass side of the one ply pick guard. This is a rare hardtail version that does come with its original case. The case is in good condition with the outer casing of the handle missing. The guitar has been re-fretted with time period appropriate fret wire and the frets are in excellent condition. The tuners are all vintage Kluson replacements minus the one original no name Kluson tuner on the high e string. The middle tone pot was replaced with a 56' Stackpole and the bridge pickup cover is also a replacement. An examination of the neck heel reads TG-9-54 and the body is signed Virginia 10-04-54.
