Description

1924 Original 5-String Epiphone Recording A Banjo, from the collection of Noam Pikelny. This banjo was beautifully restored by master luthier, Gil Draper, with a french polish refinish and a full refret. This is an extremely rare and wonderful sounding banjo. This is the only original 5-string Epiphone with an early one piece cast flange and heavy cast archtop tonering that I've ever encountered. Not very dissimilar in construction from the one piece flange archtop Gibson banjos that were introduced about 5-years later. I showed this banjo to George Gruhn a few years back and he said it was the earliest Epiphone 5-string resonator model he had seen to date. This is a historically significant banjo but it also plays and sounds great. Includes the original hardshell case (it is in decent shape but one hinge needs repair). Please send me a message if you have any questions. Additional photos and video available upon request. Serious inquiries only. Thanks, Noam
