1965 Epiphone Embassy Bass Red

If you know your Gibson history, then you know that the Epiphone line was made in Kalamazoo right alongside the Gibsons from 1959 until 1969 or so. Manufacturing went to Asia after that. Most of the Epiphone line had a Gibson counterpart that was nearly identical. Sometimes the pickups were different, more often only the body shape was different. The sought after (and expensive) Gibson Thunderbird IV is identical to the Epiphone Embassy with only a different body shape and headstock. A Gibson Thunderbird IV will cost you close to $20,000. An Embassy with the exact same electronics can be had for under $4000 (and it weighs less). This one has a few issues but nothing major. No cracks or breaks or repairs. The ugly amplifier knobs were changed. The bridge and pickup covers are gone as is the finger rest. The tuners have been changed to Gotohs but the originals are in the case. The original case is gone but the bass comes in a form fit new case. This is a full scale (34") bass. The frets appear to be original but I'm not completely certain of that. It plays beautifully. I don't think there is a better two pickup long scale bass available for anywhere near the price.
